It will be impossible for the owners of a company to monitor everything that happens at their workplace on their own. Little wonder then that today even the smallest of organizations are taking recourse to the use of surveillance systems for keeping a vigil over their employees.
However, is installing mini security cameras for spying on others really a good idea? Like most of the things in this world, this practice too has its own share of merits and drawbacks but the advantages probably exceed the disadvantages. This entire matter has been logically debated below:
Let us first begin with the benefits that mini security camera installation offers to its users. There are a few things that can be figured out quite easily. When the employees of a company know that their activities are being monitored by a security camera, they will make it a point that they acquit themselves properly and refrain from misbehaving with anyone. On the other hand, an organization that is discreetly keeping an eye over its office will have solid evidence to furnish if any of its employees decide to act unlawfully.
Meanwhile, there are some genuine issues that can be taken care of through the use of mini security cameras:
a) Adherence to company policies - No matter how big or small an organization is, it will have certain policies and procedures that the company will wish are followed sincerely by its employees. By seeing camera footage off and on, a company can gauge whether their staff is really adhering to the standards that it has set for itself. If anything is found to be amiss, it can be worked on.
b) Theft and shrinkage - You can rest assured that when there are mini cameras peeping at the people working in an office from all directions, the chances of theft will either be mitigated considerably or eliminated altogether. Anyone who decides to steal an office item will do so at their own peril.
c) Harassment - Many a times, physical harassment becomes a major cause of concern for an organization after it receives complaints that a few of its employees have had to go through some embarrassing moments. Such moments normally transpire in desolate places like staircases, corridors etc., but when these places come under the ambit of security cameras, instances such as physical altercations or harassment may stop happening altogether.
Regardless of how effective mini cameras are, they may fail to get immediate acceptance from everyone. There are companies that feel hesitant in installing security cameras in their offices as they fear that such a step could create a feeling of distrust amongst employees and start impacting their performance. It will not be too wrong to assume that many employees may become too cautious and desist from acting freely if they know that all their activities are being recorded by a camera. Those who are sociable may not give much heed to this issue but anyone who is a bit shy can easily start to become overly conscious.
To sum it up, it can be said that it is your requirements and your necessities that will determine whether installing mini security cameras will be a good idea for you or not.
